Continue your journey today through the vast Sahara region to the locations of Tilfazou and Oued Amais.
Your guide will take you to view the renowned Neolithic ‘cow painting’ which depicts a herd of cows with saddened faces. One of these cows is illustrated with teardrops streaming from its eyes. According to local legend, a nomadic shepherd once travelled day and night with his herd of cows in search of a water source. They finally arrived at the location of a water spring only to find that it had completely dried up. It is here that the shepherd decided to carve into stone his cattle’s final moments as they shared in their master’s grief and eventually died from thirst one by one.

Return to Djanet today for lunch and some well-deserved rest. Spend time exploring the vibrant local market, sampling regional specialties and purchasing memorable souvenirs such as the Touareg cheche (traditional head wrap).
In the evening, enjoy a farewell dinner and settle in at the guesthouse before your flight back to Algiers.
