Here are some highlights of what you will see and experience on the Classic Mauritania Tour








Upon arrival in the Nouakchott capital, you will be welcomed by your tour guide at the airport and transferred to your hotel.
If you have an early arrival, you can explore Nouakchott including the Al Khaima City Center, Fish Market and the Souvenir Market. Meals are not included on this day, but can be arranged at hotels or restaurants as needed.

This morning, you will drive toward the renowned Big Dunes of Azoueiga. En route, you will make a stop at the cave of Akjoujt and indulge in a freshly prepared picnic lunch.
After lunch, continue the drive into the Sahara desert until you have reached the massive Azoueiga dunes. While you take the opportunity to climb up the dunes for a break-taking panoramic view, your team will prepare a comfortable campsite and cook a delectable dinner. This outdoor camping experience under a canvas of starlit skies will be an unparalleled and unforgettable experience.

This morning, you have another opportunity to climb the Azoueiga dune while breakfast is being prepared and the campsite is packed away for you.
Drive through the beautiful landscapes of the White Valley towards one of its best-kept secrets, the oasis of Mhairith. Here you will enjoy a picnic lunch in the oasis. Swimming is allowed in the oasis, so feel free to take a swim or just relax and enjoy the scenery.
After lunch, depart for the ancient city of Chinguetti where you can witness a memorable sunset from the top of a massive sand dune. Spend the night and have dinner in a basic guesthouse.

This morning, embark on an exploration of the UNESCO World Heritage Site of Chinguetti, an ancient city renowned as a historic trading hub, a prominent Islamic scholarly center, and a former gathering place for pilgrims on their way to Mecca. Visit the venerable old town library, where ancient texts are preserved. Additionally, explore the 13th-century old city mosque.
Travel along the ancient trans-Saharan caravan trade route toward the oasis of Tanouchert. Here you will stop for lunch in a nomadic tent.
Continue towards Ouadane, but make a detour to visit the Richat Structure, also known as “the Eye of Africa”. This is a massive circular landmark that is visible from space. Return to Ouadane where you will have dinner and spend the night in a guesthouse.

After breakfast, you will visit the Canyon of Amogjar in the Adrar plateau. Here you will have a spectacular panoramic view of the canyon. Next, you will visit the nearby Agrour Amogjar to see a collection of neolithic rock paintings.
Lunch will be served in Atar, the capital of the Adrar region. Afterwards, you will journey to the renowned Ben Amera monolith, situated near the Western Sahara border. This colossal monolith holds the distinction of being Africa’s largest and the world’s second largest. You will also visit the lesser Ben Aisha monolith located nearby. Walk along the base of Ben Aisha to discover many remarkable rock carvings and sculptures created by a dozen international artists in 1999 to commemorate the millennium.
The campsite will be set up by Ben Amera, where you will watch the sunset, enjoy a freshly cooked dinner, and spend the night camping under the stars.

Following breakfast at Ben Amera, embark on a journey to Banc d’Arguin. During this day, there is a chance to witness the famous Iron Ore train passing by. Lunch will be provided en route.
Arrive at the Banc d’Arguin National Park in the evening. Make your way to Cape Tafarit to enjoy dinner and experience the tranquility of camping under the starlit sky in nomadic tents.

Begin your day with breakfast at Cape Tafarit. Next, travel to Iwik to embark on a sailing excursion in traditional Imragen fishing boat. During this voyage, you will have the opportunity for birdwatching at small islands situated off the coast.
Upon your return to Cape Tafarit, you will enjoy a leisurely lunch. You will have a free afternoon to unwind on the beach and to enjoy the sunset from the cape. Dinner and camping under the stars will be enjoyed at Cape Tafarit on the beach.

Following breakfast, depart Cape Tafarit and make a stopover in Nouamgar for a chance to observe the pink flamingos. Lunch will be provided en route to Nouakchott. Dinner is not included on this day but can be arranged at a restaurant in Nouakchott as needed.
You will be transferred to the Nouakchott-Oumtounsy International Airport for your departure flight.
