FAQs

Planning a Trip to North Africa

Does Mosaic North Africa offer scheduled group tours?

All our tours are custom and private. Tours are built around the client’s needs including arrival and departure dates. We do not combine separate parties to create larger group tours.

Why choose a private tour with Mosaic North Africa?

Our private group tours are designed to take you to the ‘real’ North Africa to allow you to experience the best this incredible region has to offer. Our private tours are organized by professionals living in North Africa with firsthand experience of the language and culture, who have carefully planned every detail in order to offer you the best possible travel experience. Unlike group tours, private tours are customized with your travel needs and preferences in mind. Choose your travel schedules and amend the tour itinerary anyway you want. Don’t waste your valuable travel time waiting for public transportation that could be delayed. We employ the most experienced and knowledgeable drivers and tour guides to provide you with superb service and an unforgettable time in North Africa!

What if I'm traveling with children?

North Africa is a great region to travel with your children. There are many places to visit that are enjoyable for children of all ages. We have served a number of families with children traveling in North Africa. Would you enjoy spending an extra day on the beach? Would your older children enjoy a camel trek or quad trek into the Sahara? We would be happy to help you customize a family-friendly tour.

What if I'm traveling alone?

Mosaic North Africa is focused on custom tours for private groups. This means that all of our tours have a private car, driver, and professionally licensed guide (Algeria and Tunisia tours are required to have full-time guides). If you are traveling alone, you will have to assume all the guide, driver, hotel fees on your own. Having said that, we have served a number of solo travelers in North Africa and would be happy to provide a private tour if you would like to travel alone.

Will I have a guide on tour with me?

All of our tours in Algeria and Tunisia are required by law to have a professionally licensed guide with your tour. Our Morocco tours will only have an English speaking driver and site guides or city guides will be available at specific sites as specified in the tour itinerary. Also, a full-time guide will be included for groups of 6 travelers or more.

Does Mosaic North Africa offer travel insurance?

Mosaic North Africa does not offer any travel insurance. We highly recommend that all our clients take out comprehensive travel insurance prior to your travels.

Does Mosaic North Africa handle international/domestic flights?

Mosaic North Africa does NOT handle or book international flights for our clients. We will handle any domestic flights that are included in your North Africa tour. The price for such domestic flights will be included in your tour costs.

Can I make changes to a tour itinerary?

Yes, please let us know your requests and we will be happy to work with you to customize a tour itinerary that fits your travel needs. We had offered many custom-designed North Africa tours to many satisfied travelers in the past.

Will I be able to enter mosques as a non-muslim tourist?

Generally speaking, non-Muslims are not permitted to enter into mosques in North Africa. Some mosques such as the Zitouna Mosque located in the heart of the Tunis medina will allow tourists to view the courtyard from behind a barrier. While other mosques such as the Hassan II Mosque in Casablanca, Morocco, and the Mosque of Uqba in Kairouan, Tunisia will welcome non-Muslim visitors during their specified opening hours. Visitors entering into mosques are required to wear modest clothing, respect the surroundings, and follow the proper rules and guidelines as outlined by the mosques. Please note that the prayer hall areas are restricted to Muslims only.

Financial Matters

How much does your North Africa tour cost?

The pricing of the North Africa tour will differ depending on the tour itinerary, season of travel, level of accommodations and the number of travelers. Generally speaking, the more travelers there are in your private group tour, the lower the price will be for each traveler since fixed expenditures such as private vehicle, driver and guides will be split among the entire group. Traveling during peak tourism seasons will generally be more expensive than the lower seasons.
