    Tour Itinerary

    Day 1 Arrive in Casablanca / Transfer to Marrakech

    Welcome to Morocco! If you arrive to the Mohammed V Casablanca airport, you will transfer to Marrakech. Check into your hotel and if you have time, explore the Marrakech medina and Djemaa El-Fna. This world famous square is one of the center attractions of Marrakech with its local storytellers, entertainers, and delectable barbeque. Dinner will be at the hotel.

    Day 2Marrakech

    Jump back in time as you take a full day guided tour of Marrakech. You will discover the Palace of the Bahia, the Saadian Tombs, and many other fascinating landmarks.

    Enjoy lunch at one of the incredible local restaurants and continue with the tour to the magnificent Koutoubia Mosque and the famous Djemaa el-Fna, one of the center attractions of Marrakech. The tour will conclude with a stop by the souk (market) lined with fresh fruit, mounds of spices, intricately woven Berber carpets and many other treasures of Morocco. Dinner will be out at a local restaurant.

    Day 3Marrakech / Ait Ben Haddou / Dades Gorge

    Today you will have an early morning departure as you travel and wind your way through the beautiful high Atlas Mountains. Your first stop with be at the UNESCO World Heritage site of Ait Ben Haddou. Here films such as ‘Laurence of Arabia‘ and ‘Gladiator‘ were filmed.

    Next travel to the beautiful Dades Gorge. Dinner will be at the hotel.

    Day 4Merzouga and Night in the Sahara Dunes

    After breakfast you will travel to the edge of the Sahara desert and be picked up by 4X4 vehicles to take you to a Kasbah in Merzouga or tented camp.  You may want to take a sunset camel excursion to enjoy the changing colours of the dune will both amaze you and beg to be photographed.  Dinner will be taken at your tented camp.

    Day 5Merzouga / Ifrane / Fes

    Wake up surrounded by the majestic Sahara dunes. After breakfast in the tented camp you return by 4X4 to meet your driver.  Continue on through the middle Atlas Mountains traveling through Berber villages such as Midelt.

    As you pass through forests close to the city of Ifrane, be on the lookout for Barbary Apes in the cedar forest. Enjoy a break in Ifrane, ‘Little Switzerland’, and enjoy this mountain town. Continue to Fes for night. Dinner will be in the hotel.

    Day 6Fes

    After breakfast, you will take a full day guided tour of the famous ancient medina of Fes. In this 1,200 year old city, you will visit sites where very little has changed since the city was first established. You will explore the labyrinth of narrow streets and main thoroughfares lined with fresh fruit, mounds of spices, intricately woven Berber carpets and many other Moroccan artisanal items. You will be swept back in time as you wander through the labyrinth of streets and alleys, visiting the tanneries, bronze workers, mosques, the University of Al-Qarawiyyin, carpet makers, the Nejjarine Square and Museum, Mellah (Jewish Quarter), potters, mosaic artisans, and more.

    You may want to take lunch at a restaurant in a traditional house in the heart of the medina close to the world famous Kairaouine mosque. After lunch you, will complete the tour and return to your hotel for the evening.

    Dinner will be in a local restaurant.

    Day 7Fes / Volubilis / Rabat / Casablanca

    After breakfast continue your trip inland through the beautiful rolling hills. In the afternoon, you will explore the finest archaeological site in the country, the 2,000 years old Roman ruins of Volubilis. Visit the forum, triumphal arch, and intricate mosaics in this UNESCO World Heritage Site.

    When you are ready you will travel to Rabat, the capital city of Morocco. While in this Imperial City, you will visit the Hassan Tower, the Mausoleum of Mohammed V and the Andalusian Gardens.

    Enter inside the 11th century fortress walls of the Oudaias Kasbah. Here you will find the oldest mosque in Rabat, the Kasbah Mosque which was constructed in 1150. This Kasbah was where Tom Cruise drove a BMW M3 in a car chase scene in Mission Impossible V: Rogue Nation.

    If time permits, you may also want to visit the Royal Palace of Rabat where you can walk in the palace grounds and take a photo of the palace from a distance. Continue to Casablanca for night.

    Day 8Depart Casablanca / Arrive in Algiers

    Depart Casablanca for Algiers. The driver will take you to the airport. If you have time before your flight, visit the Hassan II Mosque, the third largest mosque in the world. Its minaret has a height of 210 meters (690 ft) making it the tallest religious structure in the world. Considered as the most ambitious structure ever constructed in Morocco, the Hassan II Mosque rises above the Atlantic Ocean and dominates much of the city’s skyline.

    When you arrive in Algiers, you will visit some of the city sites. These may include: Museum of Antiquities and Islamic Arts, UNESCO World Heritage Casbah, mosques, Notre Dame d’Afrique (Museum and site visits will be determined by arrival time). Dinner will be at the hotel.

    Day 9Algiers / Tipaza / Cherchell / Tomb of the Christian / Algiers

    After breakfast, you will travel to Tipaza to explore this beautiful Roman site beside the Mediterranean Sea. You will not want to miss the historic basilica, which is said to be the largest in North Africa. If you enjoy seafood you may want to try out a local restaurant for a fresh fish lunch in Tipaza. Don’t miss the museum before continuing on to Cherchell. Here you will visit two archaeology museums that hosts a number of Roman antiquities. On your way back to Algiers, stop at the pyramid-like structure of the Tomb de le Christian.

    Dinner will be in a hotel or at a local restaurant.

    Day 10Algiers / Djemila / Constantine

    Today you will have an early morning departure and drive to Setif in the morning.  Stop in Setif for a guided tour of the Setif Archaeology museum, which hosts the large Roman mosaic ‘Triumph of Dionysus.’ This is considered one of the most exquisite mosaics in all of the Roman world.

    Make sure you leave enough time to explore the UNESCO World Heritage Site of Djemila, meaning ‘Beautiful’ in Arabic. The site lives up to its name as it is uniquely situated amongst rolling hills. You will have a guided visit of both the museum and the historic site. Explore the forum, basilicas, baptisteries, arch of Caracalla, Temple des Septimes, well-preserved Roman market, and theatre.

    Later in the day, you will travel to Constantine for dinner and night.

    Day 11Constantine / Timgad / Lambaesis / Constantine

    Today you will want to depart early to have sufficient time at all the sites. Begin with a stop at Medracen (Ancient Numidian Tomb), which is 58 meters in diameter and 19 meters tall. Then travel to the unforgettable UNESCO World Heritage Site of Timgad, begun by Emperor Trajan in AD100. Here you will discover the library, temples, amphitheater, arch of Trajan, forum, houses, and basilicas.

    On your return to Constantine, stop at Lambaesis, which hosts the large structure of the Roman legionary base. Return to Constantine for dinner and night.

    Day 12Constantine / Tiddis / Annaba

    After breakfast you will explore the city of Constantine including the museum of Cirta and the suspension bridges. Constantine is split in two by a large gorge making it one of the most picturesque cities in Algeria.

    After, travel to the hillside Roman site of Tiddis and take a guided tour. You will begin by walking through the arch and to the sanctuary of Mithras, Christian basilica, and Roman houses. Travel to Annaba for night.

    Day 13Annaba / Tabarka

    Spend the morning visiting the archaeological Roman site of Hippo, the museum, and the Cathedral of St. Augustine, as well as Cap De Garde. Take lunch in Annaba and travel to the Algeria/Tunisia border.

    When you have crossed through customs at the Algeria/Tunisia border, you will meet your Tunisia English speaking driver and transfer to the coastal city of Tabarka. Dinner will be at the hotel.

    Day 14Tabarka / Bulla Regia / Dougga / Kairouan

    Today will be an exciting day of visiting incredible Roman Ruins. You will begin with exploring the Roman ruins of Bulla Regia. Here you will find well-preserved Roman homes underground with mosaic intact. W

    hen you have completed your visits, you will travel to the UNESCO World Heritage Site of Dougga. This is arguably Tunisia’s best Roman site giving the visitor a picture of life in a Roman city. When you have completed your visit you will drive to Kairouan. Dinner will be at the hotel.

    Day 15Kairouan / El Jem / Sousse

    We will spend the morning sightseeing in Kairouan. You will visit the grand mosque Okba Ibn Nafaa and the mausoleum of the Berber companion of Mohammed. Afterwards, you may be interested in a visit to a carpet-making workshop where you can observe, admire, and learn about this incredible artisan work.

    Afterwards, travel to El Jem and enjoy the Roman Coliseum in this city is one of the best preserved in the world. It was constructed between 230 and 238 AD and is believed to at one time have hosted between 30,000 to 45,000 spectators.

    After your visit we will travel to the gorgeous seaside town of Sousse. If time remains in the day, you will want to enjoy a stroll along the coast or perhaps the ancient medina. Most museums close at 4 or 5pm. Dinner will be at the hotel.

    Day 16Sousse / Hammamet / Cap Bon / Tunis

    Today you will follow the coast with your first stop in Hammamet and Nabeul. Although more touristic, it is worth a stop to explore the artisans at work making pottery. Continue winding your way to the Punic site of Kerkouane, also UNESCO World Heritage Site. You will visit the village of Korbus with its famous thermal water source and Houaria to explore the grottes (cave).

    Travel to Tunis for night. Dinner will be at the hotel.

    Day 17Tunis / Bardo Museum / Carthage / Sidi Bou Said / Tunis

    After breakfast, you will visit the ancient archaeological site of Carthage, once the largest city in northern Africa. This site holds ruins from many eras of history, such as the Punic, Roman, Vandal, and Byzantine eras.

    We then continue to the quaint village of Sidi Bou Said located on surrounding hills overlooking the Mediterranean Sea where we will explore its beautifully paved lanes and many spectacular sea views.

    You will return to Tunis and visit the Bardo Museum. This is a world-class museum that contains a vast number of important mosaics from the Roman period.

    If there is time in the day, you may enjoy a leisurely stroll through the Tunis medina and find local artisans at work in trades such as copper, leather, wool, and carpet designing. Dinner will be at the hotel.

    Day 18Departure from Tunis-Carthage International Airport

    Your driver will take you to the Tunis-Carthage International Airport, thus ending your unforgettable North Africa Adventurer tour.
