    Tour Itinerary

    Day 1 Arrive in Casablanca / Transfer to Marrakech

    Welcome to Morocco! If you arrive to the Mohammed V Casablanca airport, you will transfer to Marrakech. Check into your hotel and if you have time, explore the Marrakech medina and Djemaa El-Fna. This world famous square is one of the center attractions of Marrakech with its local storytellers, entertainers, and delectable barbeque. Dinner will be at the hotel.

    Day 2Marrakech

    Jump back in time as you take a full day guided tour of Marrakech. You will discover the Palace of the Bahia, the Saadian Tombs, and many other fascinating landmarks.

    Enjoy lunch at one of the incredible local restaurants and continue with the tour to the magnificent Koutoubia Mosque and the famous Djemaa el-Fna, one of the center attractions of Marrakech. The tour will conclude with a stop by the souk (market) lined with fresh fruit, mounds of spices, intricately woven Berber carpets and many other treasures of Morocco. Dinner will be out at a local restaurant.

    Day 3Marrakech / Ait Ben Haddou / Dades Gorge

    Today you will have an early morning departure as you travel and wind your way through the beautiful high Atlas Mountains. Your first stop with be at the UNESCO World Heritage site of Ait Ben Haddou. Here films such as ‘Laurence of Arabia‘ and ‘Gladiator‘ were filmed.

    Next travel to the beautiful Dades Gorge. Dinner will be at the hotel.

    Day 4Merzouga and Night in the Sahara Dunes

    After breakfast you will travel to the edge of the Sahara desert and be picked up by 4X4 vehicles to take you to a Kasbah in Merzouga or tented camp.  You may want to take a sunset camel excursion to enjoy the changing colours of the dune; they will both amaze you and beg to be photographed.  Dinner will be taken at your tented camp.

    Day 5Merzouga / Ifrane / Fes

    Wake up surrounded by the majestic Sahara dunes. After breakfast in the tented camp you return by 4X4 to meet your driver.  Continue on through the middle Atlas Mountains traveling through Berber villages such as Midelt.

    As you pass through forests close to the city of Ifrane, be on the lookout for Barbary Apes in the cedar forest. Enjoy a break in Ifrane, ‘Little Switzerland’, and enjoy this mountain town. Continue to Fes for night. Dinner will be in the hotel.

    Day 6Fes

    After breakfast, you will take a full day guided tour of the famous ancient medina of Fes. In this 1,200 year old city, you will visit sites where very little has changed since the city was first established. You will explore the narrow streets and main thoroughfares lined with fresh fruit, mounds of spices, intricately woven Berber carpets and many other Moroccan artisanal items. You will be swept back in time as you wander through the labyrinth of streets and alleys, visiting the tanneries, bronze workers, mosques, the University of Al-Qarawiyyin, carpet makers, the Nejjarine Square and Museum, Mellah (Jewish Quarter), potters, mosaic artisans, and more.

    You may want to take lunch at a restaurant in a traditional house in the heart of the medina close to the world famous Kairaouine mosque. After lunch you, will complete the tour and return to your hotel for the evening.

    Dinner will be in a local restaurant.

    Day 7Fes / Volubilis / Rabat / Casablanca

    After breakfast continue your trip inland through the beautiful rolling hills. In the afternoon, you will explore the finest archaeological site in the country, the 2,000 years old Roman ruins of Volubilis. Visit the forum, triumphal arch, and intricate mosaics in this UNESCO World Heritage Site.

    When you are ready you will travel to Rabat, the capital city of Morocco. While in this Imperial City, you will visit the Hassan Tower, the Mausoleum of Mohammed V and the Andalusian Gardens.

    Enter inside the 11th century fortress walls of the Oudaias Kasbah. Here you will find the oldest mosque in Rabat, the Kasbah Mosque which was constructed in 1150. This Kasbah was where Tom Cruise drove a BMW M3 in a car chase scene in Mission Impossible V: Rogue Nation.

    If time permits, you may also want to visit the Royal Palace of Rabat where you can walk in the palace grounds and take a photo of the palace from a distance. Continue to Casablanca for night.

    Day 8Depart Casablanca / Arrive in Algiers

    Your driver will take you to the airport for your flight from Casablance to Algiers. If you have time before your flight, visit the Hassan II Mosque, the third largest mosque in the world. Its minaret has a height of 210 meters (690 ft) making it the tallest religious structure in the world. Considered as the most ambitious structure ever constructed in Morocco, the Hassan II Mosque rises above the Atlantic Ocean and dominates much of the city’s skyline.

    When you arrive in Algiers, you will visit some of the city sites. These may include: Museum of Antiquities and Islamic Arts, UNESCO World Heritage Casbah, mosques, Notre Dame d’Afrique (Museum and site visits will be determined by arrival time). Dinner will be at the hotel.

    Day 9Algiers / Tipaza / Cherchell / Tomb of the Christian / Algiers

    After breakfast, you will travel to Tipaza to explore this beautiful Roman site beside the Mediterranean Sea. You will not want to miss the historic basilica, which is said to be the largest in North Africa. If you enjoy seafood you may want to try out a local restaurant for a fresh fish lunch in Tipaza. Don’t miss the museum before continuing on to Cherchell. Here you will visit two archaeology museums that hosts a number of Roman antiquities. On your way back to Algiers, stop at the pyramid-like structure of the Tomb de le Christian.

    Dinner will be in a hotel or at a local restaurant.

    Day 10Algiers / Constantine / Tiddis

    In the morning, take a flight to Constantine. When you arrive you will take a trip to the archaeological hillside Roman site of Tiddis, which offers excellent views over the region. You will begin by walking through the Arch of Memmius and to the sanctuary of Mithras, Christian basilica, and Roman houses.

    Return to Constantine for a half day tour enjoying this breath-taking city. You will explore the suspension bridges, the Constantine museum, Kasbah, and Palace of Ahmed Bey.

    Later in the day, you will travel to Constantine for dinner and night.

    Day 11Constantine / Timgad / Lambaesis / Batna

    Today you will want to depart early to have sufficient time at all the sites. Begin with a stop at Medracen (Ancient Numidian Tomb), which is 58 meters in diameter and 19 meters tall. Then travel to the unforgettable UNESCO World Heritage Site of Timgad, begun by Emperor Trajan in AD100. Here you will discover the library, temples, amphitheater, arch of Trajan, forum, houses, and basilicas. There is a fantastic museum at the site with grand mosaics found in the region.

    On your way to Lambaesis, you will stop to visit the large ancient Roman legionary base. Continue to Batna for night.

    Day 12Batna / Djemila /Setif

    After breakfast travel north to to the UNESCO World Heritage site of Djemila meaning ‘Beautiful’ in Arabic. The site lives up to its name as it is uniquely situated amongst rolling hills. You will have a guided visit of both the museum and the historic site. Explore the forum, basilicas, baptisteries, arch of Caracalla, Temple des Septimes, well-preserved Roman market, and theatre. Continue to Setif and upon arrival explore the Setif archaeological museum with the grand mosaic of the ‘Triumph of Dionysos.’

    Day 13Setif / Algiers

    In the morning you will either take a flight or drive back to Algiers. When you arrive to Algiers take a city tour and explore the historic sites and museums. If you missed the Kasbah on Day 1 you will wind your way through the narrow streets about learn about its unique history. See historic mosques and museums in the Kasbah. Bastion 23, Palais of Rais, is also well worth exploring with incredible architecture and a fantastic location by the sea.

    Day 14Algiers / Tunis

    Today you will take a flight from Algiers to Tunis. Arrive in Tunis and meet your English Speaking guide and private driver. Take time to rest upon arrival and if time remains explore the historic medina which is a UNESCO World Heritage Site since 1979. The famous Zitouna Mosque, spice market, and the gold souk (market) are sites you don’t want to miss. Dinner will be at the hotel.

    Day 15Tunis / Carthage / Sidi Bou Said / Bardo / Tunis

    After breakfast, you will travel to Carthage, once the largest city in northern Africa. This site holds ruins from many eras of history, such as the Punic, Roman, Vandal, and Byzantine eras.

    You will then continue to the quaint village of Sidi Bou Said located on surrounding hills overlooking the Mediterranean Sea. Also known as the “blue and white village”, we will walk along the beautifully paved lanes with many white houses with blue roofs and windows forming a brilliant blue and white theme throughout the entire town. You may want to have lunch here while enjoying the spectacular sea view.

    If open, explore the Bardo Museum. This is a world-class museum that contains a vast number of important mosaics from the Roman period. There are numerous rooms in the museum offering artifacts from the Punic to Islamic periods. Dinner will be at the hotel.

    Day 16Dougga / Makthar / Kairouan

    In the morning, travel to the enormous Roman Archaeological site in Dougga. This UNESCO World Heritage site is one of the best preserved Roman ruins in Tunisia. The site overlooks its vast surrounding regions. It’s not uncommon to see locals herding their sheep through the Roman ruins. Continue on to the Roman site of Makthar.  Here you will see a Roman Forum, Trajan’s arch, a Vandal Church, and much more. Then you will travel to the important Islamic city, Kairouan. Dinner will be at the hotel.

    Day 17Kairouan / Sbeitla / Tozeur

    This morning we will visit the grand mosque Okba Ibn Nafaa and the mausoleum of the Berber companion of Mohammed.

    Afterwards, you may be interested in a visit to a carpet-making workshop where you can observe, admire, and learn about this incredible artisan work. There is an ancient medina with winding streets, which make for a nice place to have lunch.

    When you have completed your visits travel to Sbeitla with its numerous mosaics, churches, baptisteries, temples, baths, and the Arch of Diocletian. Do not forget to leave time to visit the museum. When you are done travel to Tozeur. Dinner will be at the hotel.

    Day 18Tozeur / Chebika / Tamerz / Ong Jemel / Tozeur

    Today you will be travelling in the early morning to the beautiful towns of Chebika, Tamerza and Mides. Here we will take some time to wander through beautiful canyons and to visit waterfalls in the Oasis mountain villages.

    Return back to Tozeur in the afternoon and visit the historic medina and the Eden Palms museum where you will learn about the date palm, its fruits and its industry.

    Day 19Tozeur / El Jem / Sousse

    In the morning you will depart for El Djem. The Roman Coliseum in this city is one of the best preserved in the world. It was constructed between 230 and 238 AD and is believed to at one time have hosted between 30,000 to 45,000 spectators. Take time exploring this enormous structure and do not forget to go down to the rooms where the gladiators waited their upcoming battle.  There is a museum in the town that hosts a plethora of mosaics.

    Travel to Sousse and if time remains in the day perhaps you would like to see the archaeological museum and medina. Dinner will be at the hotel.

    Day 20Departure

    Your driver will take you to the Tunis/Carthage International Airport, thus ending your unforgettable North Africa Adventurer tour.
