A trip to Agadir is more relaxing than intense sightseeing following a busy schedule. Unlike the major cities in Morocco, Agadir is a leisurely town with beautiful beaches and clear ocean waters. The city is located in the southwest and the majority of its inhabitants speak the Berber language. Agadir is hidden between the Atlantic Ocean and the foot of the Atlas Mountain.

When in the city, you will get the strange feeling of slowing down. There are places, of course, that need to be visited and it’s recommended to take your time while enjoying the city’s fresh air.

What to See in Agadir

Among the highly rated places to go when in Agadir is the Seafront Promenade. It’s long approximately 9 kilometers. It is an excellent starting point if you want to take some beautiful pictures home of the ocean or the Kasbah that is rising on the top of a hill. The Promenade is the favorite choice of the locals.

La Medina is another very famous place that deserves a visit. As for the rest of the Moroccan cities, the Medina is the city center. It’s the perfect place to see traditional architecture and magnificent interior decoration like carved doors, metal and tile work. There are little craftsman shops and cozy restaurants.

Agadir Oufella Ruins or, the Kasbah. It a bit off the beaten track but a trip well deserved. It’s recommended that you visit the ruins at sunset as the light casted over the beach, the city and the plain surrounding the city is a remarkable sight. You can also ride a camel to the Kasbah that will add up to the extraordinary experience.

The Fishing Market of Agadir is located at the old harbor. This is not only a market place but you can see boats coming and going out in the sea. It’s an equally busy area. Come try out the fresh catch of the day.

Where to Stay in Agadir

Agadir is the home of some of the finest hotel chains and traditional riads. If you are looking for a place to stay, these three are among the most valued ones.

Villa Riad Blanche is a boutique hotel with magnificent suites. It’s located very close to the beaches of Agadir. The decoration is in traditional Moroccan style. The food in the restaurant is outstanding. This is a great place to take a break, relax and savor the easy going life of Agadir.

Hotel Riu Palace Tikida Agadir is in close proximity to the beach and the only thing that separates the hotel is the Promenade. The atmosphere is relaxing and guests can try the Thalassotherapy center.

Hotel Timoulay is a lovely luxurious hotel just a few steps away from the beaches. The rooms have an excellent view over the Atlantic Ocean. The interior decoration is a mixture of Berber art and “art-deco” style. It is a place filled with harmony and culture.
