Tour itinerary: The round trip was interesting covering most historical sites and some of the many mosques (only outside). The round trip turned out to be very busy with literally few spare moments for enjoying Tunisian street and domestic life. We had 2 days with arrival time at the hotels between 1900-1930, and most days close to 1800 hours. At the end we had to insist on earlier arrival. We believe that better planning by the guide could partly alleviate the time issue (more later). The driver told us on our return to Tunis that we had covered 3400 km, the many deviations from a more “direct” route contributed significantly. The desert visit was a disappointment having had similar experience in Oman, Jordan, and Morocco; the 2 days with a very long driving time could be better spent.
Driver: A good humoured, service minded and safe driver. A significant contributor to our well-being and common spirit.
In conclusion: Tunisia was an interesting country to visit, but we felt a bit exhausted at the end for reasons given above.
