We had a very good time in Algeria and Tunisia thanks.The bays of Oran and Algiers, Djemila and El Jem were particular highlights….

 

Our architectural student guide in Oran very good, and in Algiers Rafiq was excellent, in Annaba Nahala was good and back in Algiers,Karim was also good

 

Anis in Tunisia was not good. His English was not up to standard and he read from his phone

 

We were very impressed with  all the Roman sites and museums  and mosaics in Algeria, especially Tipaza and Djemila, a bit less so in Tunisia.It is a measure of how good the Roman sites in Algeria are that Carthage was a bit disappointing, though the Bardo and El Jem were outstanding. We had great sea swimming in Sousse and it was easy to walk to the beach.

 

The hotel Royal in Oran, central, comfortable, very good service and good for walking around town, and both dars in Tunisia were very good. The staff in Dar Antonia were outstanding.

 

The train trip to Oran took far too long and another time we might fly.

 

Both the Aurassi and the well past its best George in  Algiers had very poor service, and it was so kind of the boss Mohammed in Algiers to come and check on the failings of the George for himself…
