Sidi Bou Said is located just north of Tunis, the capital of Tunisia. Sidi Bou Said is a beautiful town located on top of a steep cliff overlooking the Mediterranean Sea. Also known as the “blue and white village”, you will notice many white houses with blue roofs and windows forming a brilliant blue and white theme throughout the entire town. The village of Sidi Bou Said is quite small. A walk through every street in the village will take about 2 hours. Most tourists will opt to walk through the main street to the top of the hill for a beautiful view of the surrounding bay. There are several cafes located at the top of the hill where you can enjoy the beautiful scenery with a cup of coffee or mint tea.
Sidi Bou Said is also famous for its ‘bambolooni’, a fried doughnut snack topped with sugar. As you take a stroll through this village, just follow your nose and you will find several vendors selling bomboloni in their small shops. There are also other vendors selling an assortment of nuts, candies, and other snacks.
