Visitors to Tunisia will be pleased to discover one of their favorite pizza retails such as Papa John’s, Pizza Hut, and Farm House available in the Tunis capital. But where can they satisfy their pizza craving when they visit southern Tunisia in places such as Djerba Island? The good news is that there are many independent pizza stores such as the recently opened Pizza House which would not disappoint pizza lovers locally or from abroad.
Pizza House Grand Opening
Pizza House recently opened in July 2018 in Houmt Souk, Djerba. The owner Rochdi describes himself as a pizza lover and pizza enthusiast even at a young age. It is no surprise to those who know Rochdi that he might open his own pizza restaurant. He approached one of his friends to be the main chef in the small pizzeria, while Rochdi tackles the management side of the business as the owner.
Delicious Pizza Cooked to Perfection Using Olive Wood
In a city with dozens of pizza restaurants to choose from, Pizza House stands out as the only pizza restaurant cooking pizza using olive wood in Houmt Souk. All other pizza restaurants in the city use electric ovens. According to Rochdi, there is a distinct difference in the taste of the pizza when cooking using this traditional method. Although Pizza House is not a very large restaurant, it was constructed with an open concept for all clients to see the entire cooking process of their pizza.
Rochdi only uses fresh ingredients that are naturally prepared each morning. He has a very strict policy on not using any electric machines in the preparation of the ingredients. Even the variety of cheeses are carefully selected including Arabic cheese, fromage fondant, camembert, Kaisers, and cream fraise. You can order their cheese pizza which is specifically prepared using all 5 types of the mentioned cheeses.
In addition to a large selection of pizza options, there are also other food options such as libanis (sandwich wraps), ma9loub, and baguette farcie. Rochdi intends to include a few new food options in the near future such as lasagna and foie de boire.
