Day 1 Arrive in Algiers

Welcome to Algeria. Arrive in historic Algiers, where you’ll be greeted and transferred to your hotel to settle in.

Depending on your arrival time, head out for a relaxed orientation walk through downtown Algiers — take in the beautiful Grande Poste, stroll along the Corniche, and get your first taste of the city’s unique energy.

If you arrive early in the day, enjoy an afternoon visit to the UNESCO World Heritage–listed Kasbah, a fascinating maze of narrow streets, history, and charm.

Day 2Algiers / Cherchell / Tipaza / Tomb of the Christian / Annaba

After breakfast, set off for Cherchell, once the proud capital of the ancient Numidian kingdoms. Enjoy a guided visit to the local museum, filled with fascinating Roman and Phoenician artifacts that tell the story of this historic coastal town.

Continue to the UNESCO World Heritage Site of Tipaza, one of the most scenic Roman cities in North Africa. Wander along ancient Roman streets beside the sparkling Mediterranean Sea and imagine daily life

in this once-bustling settlement. Visit the museum and archaeological site, home to impressive ruins including the largest basilica in North Africa.

On the drive back to Algiers, stop to explore the Tomb of the Christian (Royal Mausoleum of Mauritania) — a mysterious, pyramid-shaped monument overlooking the hills.

In the evening, return to Algiers for your flight to Annaba, where you’ll transfer to your hotel and settle in for the night.

Day 3Annaba / Constantine

Start your day with a visit to the Museum of Hippo Regius, home to an impressive collection of Roman mosaics and local antiquities uncovered from the region. Then, explore the archaeological site of Hippo Regius, where you’ll walk among ancient ruins including a grand Roman forum and the famous Basilica of Peace, where St. Augustine once served as bishop in the 5th century.

Next, head up the hill to the beautiful Cathedral of St. Augustine, built between 1881 and 1900. Take a moment to admire its stunning stained-glass windows, each one telling a part of St. Augustine’s remarkable story.

In the afternoon, travel to Constantine, often called the City of Bridges for its breathtaking cliffs and dramatic crossings. Arrive in the evening and settle into your hotel for the night.

Day 4Constantine / Tiddis / Constantine

After breakfast, set out for the hillside Roman site of Tiddis, a hidden gem with sweeping views of the surrounding valley. Enter through a triumphal arch and stroll along the ancient paved Roman road as you explore the sanctuary of Mithras, the Christian basilica, Roman houses, water tanks, and a small forum that reveal the daily life of this once-thriving settlement.

In the afternoon, return to Constantine for a city tour. Perched dramatically above the Rhumel Gorge, the city’s scenery is simply unforgettable. Highlights may include the Museum of Cirta, the city’s famous suspension bridges, the Kasbah, and the elegant Palace of Ahmed Bey.

Day 5Constantine / Medracen / Timgad / Lambaesis / Constantine

Get an early start today as you head south to explore some of Algeria’s most impressive historical and archaeological treasures — Timgad and Lambaesis.

Along the way, stop at Medracen, the Ancient Numidian Tomb, an awe-inspiring stone monument measuring 58 meters wide and 19 meters tall — a remarkable reminder of Algeria’s pre-Roman past.

Continue to the UNESCO World Heritage Site of Timgad, founded by Emperor Trajan in AD 100. Wander through the remarkably preserved ruins, including the library, temples, amphitheater, Arch of Trajan, forum, and basilicas. Don’t miss the on-site museum, home to some of the most beautiful Roman mosaics in the region.

On your way back, stop at Lambaesis, once a major Roman legionary base, to explore its fascinating remains. Afterwards, return to Constantine for the night.

Day 6Constantine / Djemila / Setif / Algiers

Start your day with a scenic drive to the UNESCO World Heritage site of Djemila, whose name means “Beautiful” in Arabic — a perfect description for this ancient city set among rolling hills. Enjoy a guided visit of the site and its museum, exploring highlights such as the forum, basilicas, baptisteries, Arch of Caracalla, Temple of the Septimii, the well-preserved Roman market, and the theatre.

Next, stop in Setif to visit the archaeological museum, home to the stunning Roman mosaic “Triumph of Dionysos”.

In the evening, return to Algiers and settle in for the night.

Day 7Algiers

Spend the day exploring the vibrant city of Algiers and its fascinating historic sites and museums. If you didn’t have a chance on Day 1, take a stroll through the narrow streets of the Casbah, discovering the stories and history hidden around every corner.

Day 8Departure from Algiers Houari Boumediene Airport

If you have time before your flight, you will take an additional guided city tour in Algiers. Your guide will take you to the airport for your departure flight.
